In a move which will provide a further boost to Ireland’s classic and vintage vehicle scene, market-leading specialist insurance broker Carole Nash has been confirmed as title sponsor of the fast-growing Classic Car & Motorcycle Live Show.

The 2012 Argory Vintage Show took place on the 28th of April. This annual event is held on the grounds of Argory House, a National Trust property near Dungannon, Co. Armagh, and this lovely setting always attracts some fantastic exhibits, as you will see from our photos. If you get a chance to attend this show in the future, we highly recommend it.
The Donegal Vintage & Classic Car Club held their annual show on the grounds of the Clanree Hotel on the 13th of May this year. This very active club always turn out some fine exhibits, and this occasion was no different. The club are very active, and further details on their many events can be found in the Diary Dates section of Irish Vintage Scene Magazine.

Held as usual on the grounds of Newcastle House, Co. Longford, this year’s Lakeland Vintage Club’s annual rally and autojumble basked in glorious weather on the 6th of May last.
In contrast to the highly varied classic events we usually enjoy in this country Tractor World Ireland, as the name suggests, stands out on the show calendar as it’s a highly specialised show targeted at the tractor enthusiast.
A firm date in many peoples’ diaries is the Celtic Old Vehicle Owners’ Club’s Norman Pratt Memorial Run. With this year being the 20th anniversary it was heartening to see such a strong and diverse turnout of vehicles and bikes, with in excess of 100 machines turning out for the day.
The May Bank Holiday Weekend sees a host of events take place all over Ireland, all worthy of a visit, and every kind of enthusiast is catered for. Just some of the events are listed here, and we wish everyone involved in running events of all kinds the very best, as well as those attending them. A road run in aid of Chernobyl Child Aid will take place in Loughrea on Sunday the 25th of March next, leaving the Loughrea Hotel & Spa at 11.30am. This event continues to grow in popularity, and the funds raised are used each year to help pay for the costs of local-man Francie Conway, who takes part in a convoy to Chernobyl to deliver much-needed aid.
A new club has been formed in Co. Waterford, entitled the Yesteryear Motor Club. At a meeting on the 18th of January last, members elected Noel Coffey as Chairman, Michael Flynn as Treasurer and Pat Cliffe as Secretary. The club will be attending events in the coming months, and we at Irish Vintage Scene look forward to hearing more about them in the near future. … Read more
The ever-active Breffni vintage club will kick off 2012 with an autojumble and vintage and classic sale in Ballinagh, Co. Cavan on Sunday the 11th of March. This will be one of the club’s first events in what will be a busy year for them as they celebrate their 21st anniversary during the year.
Mad for Models Show
The 3rd Annual Mad for Models Farm, Construction & Truck Show will move to a new venue this year when it takes place on the 10th and 11th of March next. The new venue is the Dolmen Hotel on the Kilkenny Road in Carlow, which is just off Junction 6 of the M6, so is easily accessible.
The Innishannon Steam and Vintage Rally will take place on the June Bank Holiday Weekend 2012 Sunday June 3rd & Monday June 4th It is the largest rally in Ireland with over 25,000 people attending the 2 days. Irish Alfa Romeo owners now have a new club that will proudly fly the serpent at events this year. No longer will owners have to arrive and park under the flag of Italian cars, or be directed to the “other cars” parking at an event. Alfa Romeo Owners’ Club Irelandhas been formed by a number of enthusiasts who will participate in a variety of diverse events around Ireland.
The first few months of the year host some of the best autojumbles all over the country. The season started off with the Abbeyshrule event run by the Lakeland Vintage Club, and this year’s jumble was without doubt one of the largest in recent years, with the indoor section packed to capacity and outdoor stalls extending beyond the village. Edre Mills, who organises the event, stated that it was great to see such a crowd attending, and after having two bad years due to poor weather conditions the mild day was very welcome.
