The Banbridge Old Vehicle Club was formed in February 1981, by a few local enthusiasts, and H.J Heslip, J.P., was elected the first chairman at the Banbridge library on that night.
The aim of all attending was to preserve and maintain old vehicles for the good of the public. In doing this the club started shows for public interest and any money raised went to a local charity. At the first show the club raised just over
£100, and at our last big show we raised a total of £18,000 for The Multiple Sclerosis Society. This goes to show how popular the interest on the old vehicle movement has grown over the last twenty years.
Members of the Club come from a wide area of the Province but, the centre of interest would still be focused on the Banbridge area. With a membership of around 225, Banbridge Old Vehicle Club would be one of the largest independent Old Vehicle Clubs in the UK. The club holds its meetings at the Banbridge Rugby Clubhouse, on the last Tuesday of each month (except December). We have more than ample room and excellent parking facilities, so you are very welcome to come along and join us. We are able to hold small entertainment nights in the form of video presentations and presentations from local vehicle businesses. We are a non profit making Organisation and any gains gathered from our shows and events throughout the year are donated to Registered Charities.
The club was formed in 1988 and is based at Hollybrook, Hollymount , Co. Mayo. The website is westernvintage.com Contact numbers as above and the aims of the club are for the restoration, preservation and exhibiting of old tractors, engines and farm machinery and attending other rallies. Any monies generated by the club are donated to charities.
