Fiat 50

It’s been fi fty years since Italian car manufacturing giant Fiat rocked the world of motoring with its audacious launch of the fi rst body style of its new 124 range. This small to medium-sized family saloon (and later estate) was one of three totally different cars aimed at very different target markets, but all wearing the 124 badge. This month we take a look at one of the most legendary Italian cars of all time.

The SAME Difference

A huge name in their native Italy, SAME have always been something of a niche product here in Ireland, and this means that classic examples are almost non-existent on the show scene. They have their followers though, such as the owner of this beautifully-restored Leopard 85.

Touring Treasure

Relatively expensive for Ireland in its day, and overshadowed in the main by the cheaper Model Y and Anglia, the Ford Model-CX isn’t the most plentiful on the vintage car scene. This one is even more special however, an open Tourer model that was bought new in Dublin in 1936.

Racing Spirit

When Eamon O’Toole embarked on this project, his bog-standard early eighties BMW touring bike looked everything but a racer of any kind. However, after a healthy dose of personalisation it’s been given a classic flat-track/ scrambler character.

 Harvest Hauler

On this side of the Atlantic, International Harvester would be a manufacturer that’s most associated with tractors. However, in the US of A the company is also known for its commercial vehicles, from large trucks all the way down to the good ol’ pickup, like the characterful 1955 R-Series you see here.
