Description

The April 2018 issue of Irish Vintage Scene (Issue 143) is now on sale, and on the cover this month is the unique story of an Irish-assembled Volkswagen Beetle that’s remained in the Limerick area its entire life, having been sold new there in 1975. What’s more, it’s now in the loving ownership of an enthusiast that first saw the car as an envious, Beetle-mad teenager back in 1994! Our second feature car is of a similarly red hue but is completely different in character, a Series 1 Jaguar E-Type Roadster that followed its owner from England to Ireland and has now been rebuilt to as-new condition.

Our first feature tractor is a model never seen in this country, a Ferguson FF30 Vineyard that was built in France, while our second tractor feature recounts the restoration story of a very-well-known David Brown 990 that worked for a famous Offaly contractor. Our motorcycle feature this month looks at the Velocette LE, undoubtedly one of the most unusual British production bikes ever, while our heavy-vehicle feature is something out of the ordinary, a 1959 Daimler Ferret armoured car that was rescued from a Belgian scrapyard by two Cork enthusiasts. Event reports include the Moynalty Steam Threshing Festival, the Swords Classic Car Sale, Show & Autojumble and the IVVMCC Leopardstown Motorcycle Show, and all of the usual favourites are in there too, so don’t miss out – get your April 2018 issue of Irish Vintage Scene today.
