Silver Arrow

A highly desirable roadster ever since its debut way back in 1971, the Mercedes R107 series remained in production for almost twenty years, and set the bar for engineering excellence in its market sector. Peter Crowley’s 450SL is a prime specimen following its recent in-depth specialist restoration.

Glassy Massey

While any classic tractor has its merits, one that holds a family history is undoubtedly even more special. For Robert Glass, this Massey Ferguson 35X has been a labour of love, and the finished article is “a Glass act” indeed.

A Ford Homecoming

One of the most desirable saloon cars of its time, the Ford Model 62 V8 of 1936 caught the eye of an army lieutenant with roots in Co. Louth. Although he was killed in WW2, his car survives to this day, and we recently witnessed its return to the stately house it once called home.

Fruit of the Lanz

While today it is long-standing brands like Claas and New Holland that are most associated with combine harvesters, many tractor manufacturers had a go over the years including the redoubtable German Lanz. This month we take a look at a rare Irish survivor that’s still able to work for its keep.

California Dreaming

Honda’s back-catalogue is packed with legends, enough in fact for many volumes of greatest hits. The CB750 is most certainly one of those, particularly in twin-cam guise such as Owen Cooke’s stunningly-restored beauty from 1980.

Trouble-Free Motoring

For all those enthusiasts who worry about driving their classic fifty miles to a show a couple of times a year, this story should come as an indication of how capable our old-timers really are, once given proper maintenance and careful handling. We give you John McPhillips’ 350,000- mile Wolseley 1500.

Commer Chameleon

There’s much talk nowadays about upskilling and changing careers as you progress through life. This Commer Karrier has been through a total revision during its time, working fi rst as a Co. Limerick fi re engine before being restored in recent years as a beautiful classic cattle truck.
