Description

The February 2017 issue of Irish Vintage Scene (Issue 129) is on sale now, with one of the most talked-about sports cars of the mid-1950s on the cover – having been rescued from an outhouse, where it had sat in very poor condition for many years, this Irish-assembled MGA 1500 has been restored to beautiful condition throughout, and even started scooping prizes as a detailed rolling chassis a year before its completion! We also feature another sports car this month, but one that’s very different – this very rare and unusual Sabra GT was built in Israel in the early sixties, and after languishing in storage for over thirty years over on the continent it’s now enjoying a second life in Co. Cavan. We move away from sports cars when we also feature a 1936 Standard Nine that’s never left its native Co. Fermanagh, and has been the subject of an approx. twenty-year restoration by its owner.

Moving to tractor features, our first is one that’s out of the ordinary – these two classic Leylands (a 285 and a 472) have travelled halfway across the globe with their now-Kilkenny-based owner, who’s also enjoyed them down under in Australia. Our second tractor feature returns to more familiar ground, when we look at one Cork enthusiast’s pair of classic Fergusons – a TEF20 and a MF35. Our feature motorcycle is an epic tale of restoration that started out with a few rusty pieces of a 1912 Sun Precision, while our commercial feature looks at a Toyota Land Cruiser fire tender from Kilkenny, which is now owned by the retired fireman that used to drive it in its working career. Our long list of show reports includes the ‘Spirit of Dunboyne’ Motorsport Festival, the 85th National Ploughing Championships, the Trim Vintage & Veteran Show and more besides, and all of the usual favourites are in there too, so don’t miss out – get your February 2017 issue of Irish Vintage Scene today at any good newsagent, or order here online!
