 The Features

The Quest for Perfection

It’s hard to believe that the Porsche 911 has been around for fifty years now. In that time it’s gone from sports car to supercar, and has racked up countless competition victories in various disciplines. To mark its big five-oh Andrew Pollock meets up with the lucky owner of a sixties variant to check out just where the car’s massive appeal originated.

David Brown Heaven

Philip Greene from Co. Laois is proud to own what must be one of the most impressive collections of David Brown tractors and implements you’ll find anywhere. To date the collection consists of 47 tractors, plus 30 diff erent implements toaccompany them, all of which are housed in anequally impressive building.

Two Wheel Touring

A life-long bike enthusiast, Maurice Keane from Drogheda in Co. Louth has an impressive collection of vintage and classic motorcycles. Shane Cranney recently paid him a visit to get a look at just some of the beautiful and varied machines in his garage.

Return to the Fold

When Michael O’Dwyer went for a childhood spin in this Dennis R-Series appliance with his fireman uncle, he couldn’t possibly have foreseen the prospect of buying it himself to restore many years later. However that has recently been the case, and having received some tender loving care it’s now back in its home locality as a treasured family heirloom.

Variety is the Spice of Life

While many model collectors focus on a certain theme such as cars, trucks or agricultural vehicles, or even on a specifi c brand like Corgi or Dinky, there are others with very broad tastes who will pick up just about anything interesting that they come across. Damien Loftus from Killashee, Co. Longford is defi nitely one of the latter.
