Issue 92 January 2014

Cover-small3

The January 2014 edition of Irish Vintage Scene (Issue 92) is on sale now, and as usual is packed with a wide variety of fascinating features. On the cover this month is one of the cutest and most endearing classic cars you’ll ever see; the Fiat 600 was a popular little car in Ireland in its day, until the Mini came along to revolutionise that particular market sector. The owner of this month’s cover beauty had a 600D as a first car, which replaced a Royal Enfield motorbike, and this led him to restore this 1964 Dublin car a few years ago. Moving further into the magazine we take a look at another car that was popular with families in the sixties, this time a plush Cortina 1600E, and also compare the merits of a classic 1980 BMW and a Cessna aeroplane of the same age!

Having fallen into disrepair in recent decades, it’s now been restored to an extremely high standard. Moving further into the magazine we take a look at some other popular classic family saloons, this time a Ford Escort Mk2 and a pair of Mk1 Fiestas, plus a stately prohibition-era 1926 Pontiac 6 tourer.

Issue 90 November 2013

Cover_smallThe November 2013 edition of Irish Vintage Scene (Issue 90) is on sale now, and as usual is packed with a wide variety of fascinating features. Our cover car this month is a first for Irish Vintage Scene in that it’s a diesel. However this is no worn-out workhorse, but an elegant and luxurious saloon every bit as desirable as its petrol rivals of the late fifties. This 1959 Mercedes 180D was first registered in Gibraltar, but by the time its current owner came across it in the UK a couple of years ago it was looking extremely sorry for itself. It was shipped back to Ireland and a full restoration was embarked upon, which you can read all about in our lead feature. Moving further into the magazine we also take a look at one of the most faithful and fondly-remembered cars in Irish folklore, an E494A Ford Anglia from 1952, plus an attractive and desirable Triumph TR6 sports car….
