The vintage and veteran section of the Tipperary Light Car & Motorcycle Club attended the Pride of Tipperary Show on Saturday the 14th of July. Some of the town’s shop fronts also rolled back the years, and there was plenty of period clothing in evidence to match the cars. Now in its 6th year, the Glenelly Vintage Steam Rally in Plumbridge, Co. The weekend of the 9th & 10th February 2013 will see the 1st RIAC National Classic Car Show take place in the RDS Simmonscourt in Dublin. This is a long overdue addition to the Irish show calendar, and one that the Royal Irish Automobile Club and the organising committee have already put a huge amount of work into. The RIAC’s involvement in motoring in Ireland goes back to 1901;

A celebration of a reliable means of transport and an icon of former times in Ireland – the High Nelly.
The High Nelly is a symbol of former times in Ireland. It revolutionised life not just in rural areas but also in towns and on city streets. It was a means of transport to school and to work, to sporting fixtures and to dances, to church services and to romantic liasions. Modern bicycles have attained a high degree of sophistication but very few will give the long years of service that the High Nelly bicycles have given.
