Silverstone Auctions

Silverstone Auctions are out of the blocks really quickly for 2023 with a spectacular line-up for their Reis Race Retro sale, taking place on Friday the 24th and Saturday the 26th of February. With 170 cars and 150 pieces of automobilia going under the hammer, there are bound to be a few record-breakers in there. Why do we say that? Well one of the lots is a Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 – while it seems like each one of these that comes to market is more amazing than the last, this one has to be the unicorn as it has only covered 5,192 miles and has been described as the best ever seen, so it’s almost certain to set another new record for theses fast Fords.

If that doesn’t set the anvil quivering, then a 1998 Subaru Impreza S5 WRC is sure to get the attention of some big-wallet buyers for the simple reason that it’s an ex-Colin McRae car, and was used by him in the 1997 Monte Carlo Rally carrying the registration P2 WRC. This is a well-known car to rally fans all over the world, and indeed closer to home as it has rallied on occasion in Ireland. On the subject of Ireland, also offered among the competition cars in the sale is a 1988 Opel Manta 400 recreation with a distinctive Irish connection; it’s finished in the Henley & Donegal Oil Livery that was well campaigned in Ireland and carries the reg SIB 400 (not part of the sale) and a Donegal International rally number 7 sticker on the door.

The above are really only the tip of the iceberg as to what’s on offer in this auction; the lot listing is worth a look for any motorsport fan, and you can also tune into the live stream on the day. For more details, or to register to bid, log onto www.silverstoneauctions.com
