Description

The September 2016 issue of Irish Vintage Scene (Issue 124) is on sale now, and features a cover car with a great family story. Even though it was first registered in Bournemouth in England and now resides in Co. Kildare, this 1976 Mini Clubman is a one-family car as it was bought new by the current owner’s grandmother, and crossed the Irish Sea when it was handed down to him in the mid-nineties. Although it’s a highly original example, it still needed a lot of remedial work during its recent restoration after spending over a decade in storage. Our second feature car is a very different animal, an extremely rare 1936 Vauxhall DX Wingham Cabriolet that’s been the subject of a pretty epic restoration in recent years, all at the hands of its enthusiastic owner.

On the tractor front, our main story this month is one of those lovely restoration tales that we love to hear about – this Zetor 2511 was a first-time project, sparked by the owner’s memories of the one belonging to his father and grandfather that he used to travel on the mudguard of in his childhood. The second feature looks at one Cork enthusiast’s collection of vintage tractors, which is highly varied but with a distinct nod towards American models. Our featured motorcycle is a very early Sunbeam from 1914, complete with wicker sidecar, while our commercial story looks at the recent restoration of a classic Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40. Our list of show reports includes the Irish Classic & Vintage Motor Show at Terenure, the IVVCC Gordon Bennett Rally, the Limerick Classic Car Show and plenty more besides, and all of the usual favourites are in there too, so don’t miss out – get your September 2016 issue of Irish Vintage Scene today!
