Description

The May 2017 issue of Irish Vintage Scene (Issue 132) is now on sale, and it’s headed up by a very special feature to mark a very special milestone: April this year marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Henry Ford’s operations in Cork, and to celebrate that momentous and far-reaching event we bring four Cork-built Fords back to where they were manufactured, at the site of the former Ford plant on Cork’s Marina. Our second car feature is also something unusual as we catch up with the ‘One-Eyed Sprite’, a Dublin-built Austin Healey Frogeye racing car that enjoyed many racing successes in the sixties with one of Ireland’s most famous racing drivers behind the wheel.

Our main tractor feature this month is a unique one for us, as we take a look at a Co. Longford-based collection of Ferguson and Massey Ferguson machines that contains some really special examples – however, the owner is selling off the collection and getting out of the restoration hobby, as the story explains. Our second tractor feature looks at an unusual Someca tractor that’s been restored by an enthusiast of (usually Italian) classics. Our feature motorcycle is a classic Triton cafe racer that recently took one of the most prestigious show trophies on the Irish scene, while our commercial feature tells the story of what is possibly the only surviving mobile creamery left in the country, built on a Ford Thames Trader lorry. Our event reports include the Footman James NEC Classic Motor Show and the Kilkenny Classic Sale & Autojumble, and all of the usual favourites are in there too, including a new regular slot where we bring you some personal stories from people behind the magazine, so don’t miss out – get your May 2017 issue of Irish Vintage Scene today at any good newsagent, or order here online!
