Description

The February 2018 issue of Irish Vintage Scene (Issue 141) is now on sale, and our first proper issue of the year features an iconic sports-roadster on the cover – the Mercedes R107 SL is on the dream list for many enthusiasts, and this stunning silver 450SL has just emerged from a detailed refresh with a recognised marque specialist. Our second feature car turns the clock back to the mid-1930s when it tells the unique story of a Ford Model 62 V8 with an inextricable link to a stately home in Co. Louth. And, our third car feature this month really is something different – a 350,000-mile Wolseley 1500 from Co. Monaghan that’s not looking too pretty now, but is still highly cherished by its owner.

Both of our tractor features also look at machines in long-term ownership, the first being a Massey Ferguson 35X that’s been in the same family for 35 years, and has just recently been restored to a truly impressive standard. Our second feature tractor isn’t actually a tractor at all, but one of the only surviving Irish Lanz MD180s, which was sold new in Co. Laois in 1957. Our motorcycle feature this month looks at one of THE sports-cruisers of the 1970s, the Honda CB750K, while our commercial feature recounts the tale of a Co. Limerick Commer Karrier fire engine that was rescued from the scrapyard and is now a beautiful little cattle truck, in honour of the owner’s father’s career. Event reports include the Connacht Pre-War Run, Ger Murphy Memorial Run, Trim Vintage & Veteran Car show and many more, and all of the usual favourites are in there too. There’s even a reprint of our Christmas crossword, as the original layout last month had a couple of mistakes… Don’t miss out – get your February 2018 issue of Irish Vintage Scene today at any good newsagent, or order here online!
