Description

The June 2013 edition of Irish Vintage Scene (Issue 85) is on sale now, and as you’ve come to expect is packed with a wide variety of fascinating features. On the cover this month is one of the most recognizable and desirable sports cars of the 20th century, and one that is celebrating an important birthday this year; the Porsche 911 is fifty years old in 2013, and to mark the occasion we delve into the history of this rear-engined legend, and meet up with the owner of a ’68 911T. Elsewhere in the magazine we bring you the amazing story behind an unfamiliar Fiat model that has stumped most car enthusiasts we’ve met; this Irish-assembled 1400A has survived in extremely original condition, and is most likely unique. We also have another low-mileage, unmolested gem for you in the shape of a VW Transporter ambulance, that was stationed at the Dairygold creamery in Mitchelstown from 1974 to 1996.

Our feature tractors this month both come from Eastern Europe. The first is a Zetor 2511 that has just been restored to fantastic condition in Co. Wicklow; its owner wanted to restore a Zetor as he had driven a similar Ursus C-335 in his youth, and lo and behold we also feature one of these models this month, a 1974 model that was rescued in the nick of time from a building labeled for demolition!

Motorcycle enthusiasts are in for a nostalgic read thanks to our feature on a restored Puch VS50 DK scooter, an original Irish 1960 model to boot, while our classic commercial this month is a 1979 Ford D-Series tipper truck with a lovely family story behind it.

With the show season now in full swing our event coverage is in the increase once more, and is headed up this month by a two-page report on the Durrow Vintage Show. We also drop in on the Millstreet and Tipperary shows held on Easter Sunday, plus two new indoor shows, the Cork Monster Motorcycle Show and the Connacht Veteran & Vintage Motor Club’s Classic & Vintage Motor Show. With all this, plus our usual attractions like Laid to Rust, Your Letters, News & Events and lots, lots more, you won’t want to miss the June 2013 issue of Irish Vintage Scene; get yours today!
