The September 2013 edition of Irish Vintage Scene (Issue 88) is on sale now, and as usual is packed with a wide variety of fascinating features. On the cover this month is a fondly-remembered family car of the sixties that is celebrating a milestone anniversary; the Hillman Imp is fifty this year, and to mark the occasion we meet with two passionate owners to hear about their own Imp stories. Moving further into the magazine we also take a look at another birthday car, this time the Vauxhall 30/98, a model that is 100 years old this year! This particular example has an amazing story behind it, as it’s travelled all over the world, competed in motorsport events and even ended up upside-down in a ditch at one point, but it’s looking better than ever now.

Our tractor features this month couldn’t be more different. The first is about a David Brown 990 Implematic that has been extensively rebuilt by a first-time restorer, while the other looks at a trio of Ford and Fordson tractors that have survived from new in unrestored and incredibly original condition, requiring little other than some new paint to look as good as new for our photos.

Motorcycle enthusiasts will be interested to read about another rare machine this month, one with a strong Irish connection; the Spanish Sanglas 400 was used by the Irish Defense Forces for many years, but has now faded into obscurity. Our commercial feature this month looks at a lovely family story, as one trucker from Co. Waterford restores the Guy cattle truck that his father bought new way back in 1969, and is now enjoying it with his own son.

With a long list of event reports, ranging from the Carole Nash Classic Car & Motorcycle Live to the Inishowen Vintage Show, plus all our usual attractions like Laid to Rust, Your Letters, News & Events and lots, lots more, you won’t want to miss the September 2013 issue of Irish Vintage Scene; get yours today!
