Description

The January 2016 edition of Irish Vintage Scene (Issue 116) is on sale now, and as it’s our Christmas issue it’s not only packed with top feature vehicles and show reports from all around Ireland, but also a whole host of great prizes to be won too!

Our cover story this month looks at an unusual American classic, a 1964 Dodge Polara 440 that was factory-built in right-hand drive. Its Galway-based owner grew up in Ontario, where this car was manufactured, and is delighted to have the car in absolutely pristine condition now following a rather long and eventful restoration. Our second feature car couldn’t be any more different if it tried – this chain-driven 1934 Frazer Nash TT Replica is one of the best-known vintage sports cars in this country thanks to its motorsport successes and well-known family ownership, and it’s just recently been restored to beautiful order. To complete our hat-trick of feature cars this month, we also bring you the story of a now-rare Irish Toyota Corolla K30 that’s been in the same ownership since 1980.

Our main tractor feature this month is quite possibly the rarest vehicle of any kind that we’ve featured in the magazine – this Ferguson TET20 Mobile Power Unit was stationed from new on an RAF airfield in Northern Ireland, and is thought to be one of only a dozen survivors! Our second tractor feature tells the story of the lengths one Farmall enthusiast went to in order to create the perfect accompaniment for his 1951 Cub – a home-built manure spreader in the correct scale for the little tractor! On two wheels, our motorcycle feature this month tells the story of the rise of the “Universal Japanese Motorcycle” via a look at one enthusiast’s 1971 Honda CB500 and a 1983 Yamaha XJ650, and rounding off another highly-varied issue is our commercial feature, which showcases a beautifully-restored Peugeot 305 van.

Event reports in this issue include the IVVCC Brass Brigade Run, the IVVMCC Leopardstown Motorcycle Show, the IVETA All-Ireland Vintage Rally and more besides, and with all of the usual attractions in there too, plus our bumper Christmas giveaway, you won’t want to miss the January 2016 issue of Irish Vintage Scene; get yours today!
