Description

The March 2013 edition of Irish Vintage Scene (Issue 82) is on sale now, and as usual is packed with a wide variety of fascinating features. On the cover this month is a rare treat; not only is the coupe one of the rarest incarnations of the Triumph Herald model range, this one is an original Irish example, and has recently emerged from the mother of all restorations. It’s a special car with a special story, and its owner is unlikely to ever part with it because of its special significance. Moving further into the magazine we also take a look at a beautifully-restored Citroen Ami, which, despite its unorthodox styling, was one of the best-selling cars in France in its time, and we also delve into the history of the Austin 7, a small car that played a hugely significant role in the European motor industry.

Our tractor features this month involve two very different machines, beginning with a big Ford 7000. The turbocharged, `94-horsepower 7000 was one of the flagship tractors of the seventies, and the owner of this one has rebuilt his to a fantastic standard. Our other featured tractor is from the opposite end of the size scale, a little single-cylinder diesel from 1954. Its brand may take you by surprise, as it’s a Stihl. That’s right; the famous chainsaw manufacturer built tractors for a short time after World War 2!

Motorcycle enthusiasts will be interested to read about the story behind a beautiful race-spec Triton, while our commercial feature this month looks at two trucks from very different eras: an Albion Clydesdale and an AEC Mammoth Major, both of which are part of a Co. Louth collection.

With a long list of event reports, ranging from the Portlaoise Indoor Classic Car Show to the Gerard Murphy Memorial Run, plus all our usual attractions like Laid to Rust, Your Letters, News & Events and lots, lots more, you won’t want to miss the March 2013 issue of Irish Vintage Scene; get yours today!
