Description

The July 2013 issue of Irish Vintage Scene (Issue 86) is on sale now, and as always is packed full with a varied selection of top-quality features. On the cover this month is a true rarity; this three-seater Daimler Conquest New Drophead Coupe is one of only 54 built between 1956 and 1957, and has just emerged following a massive twenty-year restoration at the hands of its Co. Laois owner. A fine Mk2 Ford Capri Ghia also features, and we mark the sixtieth anniversary of the introduction of the Triumph TR range of sports cars with a very special feature, when we meet with members of TR Register Ireland to get together one of every model, from the first TR2 up to the final TR8.

Tractor fans are in for a real treat this month, as we visit one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of David Browns you are likely to see anywhere. On the other end of the originality scale, we take a look at a highly-modified Fordson Major E1A, which has been lengthened and fitted with a turbocharged, six-cylinder diesel engine from a Ford Cargo truck. Motorcycle enthusiasts are also in for a bumper feature, when we call to Co. Louth to take a look at four bikes in one collector’s ‘fleet’, including a Norton ES2, Honda CL450 and a Silver Jubilee Triumph Bonneville. And, our commercial feature this issue is another special story, that of a Co. Tipperary fire-fighter that has bought the very same Dennis fire engine he rode around in with his uncle as a youngster.

Our extensive event reports include visits to the 1st Waterford Truck & Motor Show and Tractor World Ireland which, when combined with our regular attractions like Laid to Rust, Retrospect, Model Scene and, of course, Diary Dates, the most comprehensive listing of upcoming events in the country, make the July 2013 edition of Irish Vintage Scene a must-buy for any vintage and classic vehicle enthusiast.
